The Salinas River Crept Up on Me

The Salinas River Flows Toward Me on January 21

But I shot it. I shot the still pictures and the video.

I had only started out trying to hunt down any water that might be in the river after last night’s heavy rain. It has been dry up to now. As I pursued the water, I found something I did not expect as I walked across the river — someone’s home. It did not appear to be occupied.

I continued to walk west and found a bit of water in the channel closest to the west bank at the north end towards the Niblick bridge, but it was more like a long puddle and didn’t go anywhere.

Since I was in the west side of the riverbed, I decide to head south toward the utility bridge. I thought if any real water was to be found it would be in that westmost channel.

As I was about to give up and head back into Larry Moore Park, I saw lots of water ahead to the south. As I walked toward it, expecting to see a full channel, I realized it was coming right for me. The channel of the riverbed I was walking in was filling at that moment. My video is not yet edited, but I will be posting it in a future post — soon. Meanwhile, this picture will show you the newly filling channel.
