Larry Moore Park Needs Some Maintenance

Most of Larry Moore Park is supposed to be pretty wild, but I don’t know how wild the main part of the park, between the Riverbank tract and the river, is supposed to be . Last winter a large branch broke from my favorite cottonwood tree, which is close to the first corner you turn on the trail if you enter by the restroom path. The broken branch is still there, as you can see. It looks as though someone might have cut the branch up a bit, but it’s still there. Perhaps this is supposed to make things look more natural or show the effects of nature, and I’d expect it by and in the river. But as close to the main path as it is, it just looks unkempt.

The other thing I noticed on my walk today was this broken fence, just as you turn left on the main trail to walk parallel to the river. I am quite sure this isn’t here just to look natural. It needs to be fixed. I guess this is what happens when the city doesn’t have money to maintain its parks. It’s sad. I wonder if they would accept volunteer help in fixing these things were it offered. I’ll bet anyone could take the wood from the broken tree branch and no one would care.
