I attended the PRAA Artist’s Reception Last night for the opening of the “No Boundaries” exhibit, and it was very crowded. In fact, when I was ready to leave the room it was so crowed on both sides of the buffet table I was tempted to rename it “No Exit.”

The painting to the left won the Blue Ribbon in this juried exhibit. You can see it and the rest of the exhibit between now and  June 10.

I also previewed the “Personal Picks” of Studios on the Park artists in the atrium. It didn’t look completly in place last night, but I’m sure they will have the all the paintings labeled and straightened in time for First Saturdays Wine and the Arts, 5-8 PM, on May 5. Don’t miss it. There will not only be great art to see, but also wine and music.

Many of the Studios artists have been working in my own neighborhood lately. One of them is Judy Lyon, whose painting “Hwy 46 & Jack Creek Rd.” was on display as part of this new exhibit which you can see until May 20. Another is Renée Besta, who photographed an interesting scene near 46 W and Vineyard Dr. You can see her “Field of Dreams” on her latest blog post. Her blog is very informative and you might want to subscribe to keep up to date on her work.

Another of the “Personal Picks” with a SLO County subject is the one below, by Jeanette Wolff, which I also loved.

While you are in Paso Robles Saturday night, don’t miss the Phantom 2 “THE VIEW FROM HERE” Exhibit which opens in the old A&R Furniture Store building on 12th and Pine, Saturday, May 5.  The Artists Reception will be from 6-9 Saturday night, and since the show is only half a block from Studios on the Park, it will be easy to see both shows and attend both receptions in one trip. You can see some of what’s in store for you there at the event’s “View From Here” Facebook Page .

These three shows are just to whet your appetite for the main art event of the year — The Paso Robles Festival of the Arts beginning on May 25. It’s a three day event this year for the first time. You can see the schedule of the weekend’s events at the Festival of the Arts web site.

Meanwhile, I hope to see you this Saturday night.
