One Section of Phantom 2 Gallery Art Exhibit in Paso Robles
A week ago I attended the Phantom 2 Show on 12th and Pine in Paso Robles. If you haven’t been, you should try to get there before it closes on June 2, 2012. It will be open on Mother’s Day, and every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until the closing reception on June 2, from 6-9 PM. Until then, hours are Fridays- Saturdays (12-9 PM) + Sundays (12-6 PM). I’m going to give you a tiny taste of it here. There were between 400 and 500 pieces of art to view, and you need to be there to fully appreciate them. My goal here is to just give you an idea of the variety. I will show you some of my favorites, but not all of them, for there just isn’t room. I will be writing a longer article on this later elsewhere, with many more pictures, and maybe some video, as well.

This sculpture below was one of my favorites in this show. No picture can do it justice. You just have to see it. This got honorable mention, and that means the jurors also picked the red, blue, and white ribbons I didn’t even show you here. Each taste is different. I had many more works I loved besides these few. Many weren’t even juried in. It will be almost impossible for me to decide on my vote for “Peoples’ Choice.”

I hope seeing a bit of the art from this show will prompt you to go and see it in person. If you don’t, you will miss one of the most exciting exhibits ever to hit the North County. You can pick up a lot of the show in my video of the highlights of the artists’ opening reception, which shows you most winners and many works that weren’t even juried in.
I also went to see Day in the Shade today in Templeton and met some artists and craftsmen I’ve not met in previous years. It appeared larger this year than it was last year. The park seemed more full. I will be writing more about Day in the Shade as soon as I have time. There is so much art this month that in order to see and enjoy it, I have to delay writing about it. I will show you one artist I discovered this year at Day in the Shade, below — Deborah Kyle Hintergardt. The bold colors in her paintings attracted me right away. I also loved her T-shirt.
