June has reminded me that Paso Robles and Templeton grow more than grapes. They also produce a lot of hay, and it’s being harvested now, baled, and stacked. I’ve been following one hay field in particular on Las Tablas Road between Booker and the Venteux Vineyards for purposes of making a photo essay and / or video. But it’s certainly not the only scenic hayfield around. Everywhere I turn I see fields of golden barley contrasting with grapevines which have turned green in the spring and now sport tiny baby grapes. Here is some of what I’ve been seeing.
