Jim Reed for Paso Robles City Council
Maybe you’ve seen his signs popping up around Paso Robles and you’ve wondered who he is? You might wonder why he’s tossed his hat into the ring. You might wonder why you should vote for this newcomer to politics. After all, he’s never run for office before. He’s not an experienced politician. I think that’s one reason you might want to vote for him. He’s not part of the politics as usual city council we have now.
Jim is self-employed and has lived in Paso Robles for 25 years. He has raised his family here and has watched the city’s transition from a small town with a responsive city council to a larger city with an often unresponsive bureaucracy. It seems to Jim that the average citizen’s voice is no longer heard. If elected, he wants to be their voice.
Like many other citizens, Jim sees roads badly in need of repair and no money in the budget to address the problem. Centennial Pool has been closed for two years. Children are over-charged for the use of parks for their sports programs. Though the city claims this has resulted from lack of funds, they have, in fact, increased spending 71% during the past nine years. You can see where Jim got this figure in the city website archives. Jim believes if the city would set different priorities, we could afford to fix our roads and meet some of the other needs such as the closed pool.

I support him because I know he cares about issues I care about: road maintenance, water supply, private property rights, fiscal responsibility in city government, and less burdensome regulations on businesses and homeowners alike. Because I know Jim, I trust him to speak for me. He’s not a polished politician. He tells it as he sees it. Check him out and consider voting a fresh, new face onto the Paso Robles City Council.
